Build systems that have to work
ZouhThings integrates technology that cities, operators and enterprises depend on daily. The work is less about novelty than about systems that keep running after the launch.
Why here
Why work with ZouhThings
An honest account rather than a recruitment pitch.
The systems are real
What we build is operated by someone after we hand it over — water networks, mobility platforms, connected infrastructure. That constrains the work in useful ways and rules out shipping something that only demonstrates well.
Local work, international platforms
We are based in Damascus and work with international technology platforms through our partnership in Spain. You get exposure to both the platform side and the integration reality on the ground.
Breadth is available
We work across IoT, mobility, cybersecurity, telecommunications, enterprise software, AI and data, and smart infrastructure. Moving between them is normal rather than exceptional.
Integration is respected here
Making new equipment coexist with installed systems is where most of the difficulty in this field sits. It is treated as engineering, not as an afterthought to a product build.
Disciplines
Areas of work
The ten areas we recruit in. What each involves here, rather than a generic description.
- Software engineering
- Enterprise applications and the services behind them, including the interfaces operators actually spend their day in.
- IoT engineering
- Devices, gateways, connectivity and the data path from a sensor reading to a decision.
- Telecommunications
- Network design and the links that carry operational data, including how systems behave when those links drop.
- Cybersecurity
- Securing connected deployments from device to platform, designed in rather than added afterwards.
- Data and AI
- Turning operational data into something a decision can rest on, including the analytics behind monitoring and reporting.
- Systems integration
- Making new and installed systems work together, which is where most delivery risk in this field lives.
- Project management
- Running delivery across vendors, contractors and public-sector timelines without losing the technical thread.
- Sales and business development
- Technical selling to government, telecom, utility and enterprise buyers, where the conversation is about fit rather than features.
- Technical support
- Keeping delivered systems running, and turning what breaks into something the engineering side can act on.
- Design and content
- Interfaces, technical documentation and bilingual content for audiences that read in English and Arabic.
These are the areas we recruit in. Listing an area is not a statement that a position is currently open in it — anything genuinely open appears under Current opportunities below.
How we work
Culture and values
The working habits that follow from building systems other people depend on.
Say what is actually confirmed
We distinguish what is agreed from what is assumed, in client work and internally. A confident answer that turns out to be a guess is expensive.
Start narrow, then extend
A small deployment run long enough to fail in bad weather teaches more than a broad one that has never been stressed. This shapes how we scope work.
The handover matters
Someone operates what we build. Documentation, alert routing and maintenance access are part of the job rather than paperwork after it.
Bilingual by default
We work in Arabic and English. Both are working languages, not one translated into the other after the fact.
Growth
Learning and development
What we can say about development without overstating it.
Exposure across the stack
Because projects span field devices to platform to operations, there is room to learn adjacent parts of a system rather than one layer of it.
Platform work with partners
Working with international platforms through our partnership means learning systems that are maintained and documented to a commercial standard.
Review as a habit
Work is read by someone else before it ships. The intent is fewer surprises in the field and faster learning for whoever wrote it.
Room to specialise
Depth in a discipline is supported where the work calls for it. What that looks like is agreed individually rather than set by a fixed framework.
Openings
Current opportunities
Roles are listed here only while they are genuinely open.
We have no vacancies posted at the moment. That is the honest position rather than a placeholder — when a role opens, it appears here with its area, location and what it involves. In the meantime a general application is read, and kept on file for roles that match.
